Hi! I’m Jeff Mac.
I have spent most of my life using and explaining music and audio technology.
I worked for SADiE, Yamaha and Mackie early in my career before founding Techrep Marketing in 1999. During that time period we worked directly with Sennheiser, Neumann, Universal Audio, Waves, Presonus, Genelec, Focusrite, Novation, QSC, L Acoustic and countless others. I have personally trained companies as disparate as Virgin Television, CMT, Sweetwater Sound, Vintage King, Marcussen Mastering and many others.
You may have read articles that I wrote for Sweetwater, Keyboard Magazine or Audio Media.
In 2018 I reorganized my life and began teaching full time at Lipscomb University in the fields of Commercial Music and Technology. This website is really my quest to share some of the knowledge I have accumulated in those many years.
My initial Masters degree was in theology and I am almost finished with a Masters in Music technology which in the academic world makes me polyvalent, but my current students prefer to think of me as just weird. This combination does give me the tendency to think deeply and rather philosophically about topics that are generally only considered technically. In existential language, we can quantize but should we?
I hope that you find some useful concepts and ideas on these pages and please feel free to drop me a note on the contact page of the site if there is a topic you would like me to explore. I look forward to learning and making some music for and with you!
